Xembedded, Inc. a XycomVME, Inc. Company has announced the XCPC-9100 CompactPCI carrier board with an eight port 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet switch. The XCPC-9100 is a full hot swap capable PMC carrier board that can hold up to two PrPMC (PMC processor module) or PMC modules with front or rear-panel I/O support in a single 6U CompactPCI slot. The two PrPMC sites can be configured as Monarch or Non-Monarch sites with bus mastering and 3.3V or 5V signaling.

The XCPC-9100 also includes an on-board micro-controller for programming the Broadcom BCM5398, 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet switch and the IPMI controller for reporting module health and FRU. The on-board 8-port 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet switch routes the two channels of PrPMC 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet lines from each PMC site, the two 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet lines for PICMG 2.16 and two 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports out the front of the module allowing the maximum flexibility in Ethernet conductivity. The XCPC-9100 can be setup for port based VLAN giving a very powerful module for many applications.

Typical applications for the XCPC-9100 with the XPMC-6710 are many. Add a FPGA PMC in the second PMC site for an intelligent I/O module, FFT engine, or in a switch fabric matrix of multiple or cascade processing engines. The VLAN capabilities of the XCPC-9100 allow for a segmented Ethernet system to optimize the though put of a team/project system.
