VME Application Engineer

Summary: This Mid to Senior Level Application Engineering position is responsible for the support of VMEbus, PMC and IP Modules Products. This position requires product and service support from the major OEM level to the System Integrator level. This position requires basic customer management to manage existing relationships. The candidate must have an aggressive attitude and be willing to support customers for pre and post sales and technical support. Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, database software and internet search engines. Must be able to lift 50Lbs. Must have good communications skills, both written and verbal. Must have working knowledge of both hardware and software functions of the PC/AT architecture, Power PC architecture, analog I/O, digital I/O, serial I/O and related components. Position requires a good working knowledge of C, C++ and assembly languages and their development software. Position requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent training.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Support of customer issues and technical requests and report to management.
Pre and Post sales support to assists customers with system configuration.
Resolve “no problem found” repairs with communication with customer and recreate customer setup to recreate and solve the problem.
Maintain ACT customer database and records.
Review technical documentation for accuracy and completeness with the view of a typical customer’s stand point (user manuals, datasheets, specifications, etc).
Maintain, upgrade and configure production/repair test stands and accessory devices for all module tests.
Provide engineering support for production test department, contract manufactures and repair department.
Maintain download network and maintain backups for production and repair departments and of programs and data.
Maintain BIOS and firmware versions and their release for manufacturing and repair.
Develop new hardware and software as required for existing products, product modifications, and new products.
Maintain product requisition specifications and revisions including Bills of Material and product datasheets.
Test new components and design changes for ECO as directed by Engineering Manager.
Test software configurations for new product.
Document software test specifications, requirements and results of specified tests.
Maintain system network, file server and software packages used by company (ACT, Microsoft Office, Tiny Term).
Maintain backups of company information on the file server.
Special projects as requested.
Ability to travel as needed to suffice customer needs

Requirements:

A Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent training.
Good working knowledge of C, C++ and assembly languages and their development software.
Solid Communication, Time Management and Organizational Skills required
